The Simpson Family: A Timeline
The Early Years
Orenthal James "O.J." Simpson was born on July 9, 1947, in San Francisco, California. He rose to fame as a running back for the University of Southern California (USC) and the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). In 1967, he married Marguerite Whitley, and they had three children together: Arnelle, Jason, and Aaren.
In 1979, O.J. Simpson divorced Whitley and married Nicole Brown, a waitress and model. They had two children together: Sydney and Justin.
The Double Homicide
On June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman were brutally murdered outside of her home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. O.J. Simpson was arrested and charged with the murders, and his trial became one of the most sensational in American history.
On October 3, 1995, O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the murders. However, he was later found liable for the deaths of Brown Simpson and Goldman in a civil trial.
The Children
At the time of the murders, Sydney and Justin Simpson were 8 and 5 years old, respectively. They were raised by their maternal grandparents, Louis and Juditha Brown.
Sydney Simpson has gone on to become a successful actress and model. She has appeared in such films as "The Princess Diaries" and "Bring It On Again." She is also a vocal advocate for victims of domestic violence.
Justin Simpson has kept a lower profile than his sister. He is currently a student at the University of Southern California.
